Holidays in the
Peak District
Peak Tours offers flexible but carefully planned
holidays for the traveller wanting to visit the
most interesting & beautiful places the Peak
District has to offer.
Who Are
Peak Tours?
Peak Tours was established by Steve Coackley.
Born & bred in the High Peak or Dark Peak
area of the Peak District Steve has walked &
cycled extensively throughout the Peak District
for many years. Prior to setting up Peak Tours
Steve cycled around the world on an unsupported
trip along with 3 others from Scotland, China
& Australia. The journey took Steve through
Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, China, USA & Ireland
covering 12,700 miles in 8 months. All travel
by land was by bike & the group carried everything
they needed to be self sufficient. Apart from
getting arrested in the Xinjang autonomous region
of Western China on suspicion of being spies the
tour was generally trouble free. On returning
home Steve left his career in finance to work
as a tour leader for the Adventure travel company
Explore Worldwide, leading walking & cycling
tours in Turkey, China, India, Poland, Ukraine,
Macedonia, Greece, Finland & Bulgaria.
Peak Tours arranges flexible, interesting and
enjoyable breaks in the beautiful Peak District.
We offer a range of tours which aim to visit some
of the Peaks better known attractions and also
to some of the lesser known hidden gems.

then our group tours offer just that. Groups are

well & will be on hand to answer any questions
which you may have as well as helping with any cycling
advice. Your luggage is transported for you &

YHA Tours |
Our YHA tours follow similar routes to our
standard tours but you stay in Youth Hostel accommodation.
The Peak District offers some of the best YHA
accommodation around & you will certainly
not be 'roughing it'. You may stay at Hartington
Hall - a 17th century manor house, complete with
log fires, oak panelling & a bedroom where
Bonnie Prince Charlie once slept. The impressive
Gothic National Trust mansion at Ilam offers access
to Dovedale while the country house at Edale sits
on a wooded hillside in the spectacular Edale
Valley. Accommodation is in dormitory rooms as
standard, however double/twin rooms can be arranged
in advance.
You are provided with cycles, panniers &
equipment for your tour allowing you to be completely
self sufficient, as luggage transfer isn't provided
as it is with all other tours. Tours start on
any day of the week & extra days can be arranged
on request. Please complete an online booking
form or call 01457 851462 to discuss your options/requirements. |
Routes |
All our routes are along quiet country lanes
& country tracks. Routes are designed to take
you to the most interesting attractions, picturesque
villages & outstanding scenery the Peak District
has to offer. Our detailed maps and route notes
ensure easy navigation & take you to the best
cafes & pubs. You dont need to be super fit
to enjoy our tours although a reasonable level
of fitness is required as there are a couple of
hills to tackle on most days.
All cycle routes cover different distances &
terrain and cover between 15 - 35 miles each day.
Routes are graded A - Easy, B - Moderate &
C - Difficult to give you a guide of what to expect.
Shorter or longer tours can be arranged on request.
Walking routes are all between 8 - 14 miles a
day which allows time to visit places en-route.
Esentially all walks are amongst beautiful scenery
with numerous villages and attractions to visit
in between. Almost all tours are planned to coincide
with a visit to a country pub, town or village
at lunch time so you don't need to worry about
taking packed lunches, although there are always
places nearby to stock up if you prefer to take
a packed lunch and find a quiet place to stop
en-route.
