Day 1: Arrive Castleton or Edale
Nestled beneath the ruins of the Norman Peveril castle and with a number of traditional purveyors of ale, Castleton makes an ideal base for the next 2 nights.
Day 2: White Peak Off Road (20 miles)
Traversing the base of Shivering Mountain (Mam Tor) takes you up above Winnats Pass to join the Limestone Way to Peak Forest. You will cycle along the old Roman road through the villages of Little Hucklow & Great Hucklow to the highest pub in Derbyshire at the 16th century Barrel Inn which has commanding views to the South. The superb descent to the hamlet of Abney takes you to the fine single track trail along Shatton Moor & down past Offerton Hall back into the Hope Valley. The trail through Brough & back through Hope to Castleton rounds off a rewarding & varied days mountain biking.
Day 3: Dark Peak Off Road (21 Miles)
Travelling northwards you will cycle towards Edale where you take the off road trail up to another old Roman road. Here you will have magnificent views over the Edale Valley as you skirt the edge of Woodlands Valley to Blackley Clough. A series of excellent trails takes you over to Lockerbrook before the great descent down to the Derwent Valley. Continuing around the banks of the Ladybower reservoir you will pass through distinctive pine woodland to reveal the breathtaking viewpoint above both the Hope & Edale valleys below. An amazing smooth singletrack trail leads down to Aston & on through Hope back to Castleton.
